HL.QER.com is back - Tiger
Finally I finished the new design which is now based on a frame system, so only make links to the start page of this site and not to special tutorial.
Also important this page is optimized for Internet Explorer 5! There could be some bugs if you visit this page with another browser.

Our new entity-section is finally available. At the moment there are all the entities from the tutorials but the rest will follow as soon as possible.

New Basic Tutorial - Tiger
After this short break I'm back with a new basic tutorial dealing with a new way of make moving platforms. So we have now to different tutorials dealing with this, the #1 is dealing with the func_plat entity and #2 with the func_door entity.

Many people ask me about the halflife.wad file and if there is any way to make it load faster. So here is one possible way by using the program Wally, but it is only a tutorial how to shrink the size of the wad in order to maker it faster and not how to make the complete wad file load faster. Check it out.

New QERadiant - Rage
Robert Duffy updated his .plan again:

A couple of things. First, things look like they are still good to go on getting the editor and map building tools out early next week. I am shooting for Tuesday sometime but that can change based on a variety of things. In any event it should be soon. Secondly, the editor and shader manuals will not be available right then but will follow shortly after.

The shader manual probably within a few days of the tool release, the editor manual a bit after that. At this point, the tools should ship with three sample maps ( all from the game ) and the additional shader textures and "mapobject" models required to build those three maps.

The maps represent a nice cross section of shader and entity functionality for everyone to digest. We have been using a P2-300 running Win98 with a variety of cards for testing. To produce a production level map ( full vis and -extra light ) it takes 36 minutes for Q3DM1. Fast vis and normal light takes about 4 minutes on the same map.

That should give some idea on requirements but your results will vary. As always, everything here is subject to change ( timing and content ) but this is the current plan and I do not foresee any changes.

Important Hint - Rage
In order to compile your maps you have to set the following in the worldspawn entity (for every map)

Edit the worldspawn entity

Key:    Wad
Value: x:/games/half-life/valve/valve.wad (for example)

I also added the tip to the setup tutorial.

Halflife.Qeradiant Opens - Rage
Hi and welcome to Halflife.Qeradiant.com. This is site will help you to install, configure and to use QERadiant to make Half-Life maps, 'cause QERadiant just IS the best editor! At the moment there's only one plug-in available, so we'll focus on how to use that one. If a new plug-in should be released, we will, of course, bring you the latest info and tutorials.
